Ming dynasties (1368-1644)

White jade ¡V Beast

Weight: 385 g

Length: 10 cm

Height: 4.7 cm

Width: 6 cm

The white jade has white specks effect and partial original hue.  The round carving performs a crouching beast which is looking aside and has features of open mouth, revealed teeth, outreaching tongue, tube-boring eyeball, long canthus, strong legs, strong paws, and obvious nails. A bat is stopping on the tail and presents bold and vigorous skill. Background pressing skill is one of extinguished characters in Yuan and Ming dynasties.  The bat has an auspicious meaning in Chinese and means good fortune and longevity. The jade shows exquisite carving skill and meaningful taste.
